Auld Nick's Visit
I see that 'he of the Vatican' is visiting Bonnie Scotchland in the not too distant future.
I also see that Magnus Orr (Pipefest) is trying to arrange pipe bands to play and for volunteers to distribute 30,000 saltires during the visit.
I trust that you have all put your paws in the air to help out.....
30,000 condoms would be more appropriate, with 30,000 signatures telling the devil to stay at home in Rome.

Re: Auld Nick's Visit
I see its going to cost the UK taxpayer 12 Million quid for security for the visit
But, as I always say, It's money well spent if it keeps the kids safe!

Re: Auld Nick's Visit
Dai, to be quite frank I am saddened that Magnus Orr is using the whole Pipefest thing to promote this.
By doing so, he is degrading Pipefest.
I've always thought that Pipefest was a worthwhile thing in the tremendous support it gave to the Marie Curie fund and to other cancer funds/associations etc..
Other Pipefest supported events promoted piping/pipe bands for whatever reason.
But this has nothing to do with charity work......this is in support of the head of one sector of one religion and many think he should not be afforded 'diplomatic status' nor should his church. Indeed his coming to Scotland also happens to be resurrecting old animosities.
Furthermore, those of his religion are not the majority in Scotland......why should taxpayers foot the enormous bill for his security etc.?
Why is Pipefest involved in the organisation of the event?
Needless-to-say I can't say I'm surprised given that Thatcher's golden boy, Chris Patten is in charge of arrangements. He caused shit in Hong Kong, he ruined and destroyed the RUC and now he's been let loose on this nonsense.
A sad day for Pipefest.

Re: Auld Nick's Visit
Well said Ron,
I wonder would Magnus Orr consider doing the same with the unveiling of a large statue of King William the Third.
Keep politics and religion out of pipe bands, hes probably gotten a bit excited and not thought it through.
Reminds me of the last time the head honco was at Bellahouston, 1982 I think,
Next year at the worlds, me and my mate peed over the wall where he stood
