I am so sorry john, what a gutter, it is certainly the cruellest of diseases, the only consolation if there is one is that at least you Mother will no longer be suffering.
Playing for her at her Funeral will probably be the hardest thing to undertake, buit you can do it m8. you are in my thoughts

I am sorry to hear that, pal. I lost my Dad to cancer 8 weeks ago, it's a total ******* of a disease. I can't think of one family I know that hasn't been touched by it.
I don't think that there are any words that could ease your pain, or if there are I don't know them, but I am thinking of you right now and you have my sincere sympathy.

Adam, thanks for your words. Nothing can be said. You are right, it is a vicious ******* and touched most people somehow.
This will be a long week until the funeral on Thursday. I am playing my mum into church, with Highland Cathedral (at the request of my dad). My uncle who is a piper thinks I am mad doing this but it is my way of saying goodbye. Play her down the road, into church and lay a thistle and heather on the coffin.
I am looking on it as a celebration of her life. We also have Peterlee's championship brass band playing in the church as she was their treasurer for 38years. Coming from the North East mining community I was the renegade, playing pipes and not brass.
